Known as Ireland's 1st Lady of urban music the renowned DJ BrownSuga started djing in 95 after being inspired by the likes of Soul2Soul and Trevor Nelson.
Having spent many years developing her skills and record collection it can be said that BrownSuga is now established as one of the UK’s finest female R’n’B DJ’s.
Having made the switch from vinyl to serato BrownSuga continues to have a great ability to read any crowd and with her versatility show is renowned for playing excellent crowd pleasing sets breaking new music alongside old skool classics.
Over the last 8 years BrownSuga has been at the forefront of the urban music scene in Belfast. Firstly asSkye’s resident on Saturday nights at a night aptly named after her 'Suga' she brought her own unique style to the masses which turned that night into Belfast’s No1 R’n’B spot playing alongside Radio 1 Xtra's Ronnie Herel, Manny Norte, and top DJ Colin Francis as well as hosting album launch parties for Sean Paul and Missy Elliott to name a few.
She is no longer Belfast’s best kept secret. BrownSuga was that popular that regular weekly visitors travelling to party from the UK mainland was a normal occurrence. In fact it became that popular down to BrownSuga's renowned weekly sets that 1Xtra chose the Skye for a live broadcast on St Patrick's day where BrownSuga played alongside Rampage and Ronnie Herel broadcasting to the whole of the UK.
Suga@Skye was defiantly a must for people who know their music and love to party but sadly the owners decided to close the club in 2008 and change it into a Hotel. This left over 600 regular weekly customers with no where to go, but wherever you go in Belfast there will be someone who has a story to tell you about the good times they had at Suga.
BrownSuga had built up such a following in Belfast and not wanting to let a opportunity slip she decided she wanted to start a new venture and do something on her own. With hard work and determination she launched her own Friday night at a new chic venue called Mono. The night was called Fabulouso and once again due to her excellent Dj skills and loyal following turned this into the Belfast's new No'1 Urban night. Three years on it has gone from strength to strength with packed Fridays week on week. Guest's have included Taio Cruz, Brick & Lace, MC Harvey, Ronnie Herel, Mark Devlin, Firin Squad, Rampage, T-Money and later on this year making his 1st appearance in Belfast Donaeo.
BrownSuga's popularity, vibe and mixing skills have gained her recent bookings in Ibiza, Napa, Ministry of Sound Egypt, Prague, Sweden, Scotland, Soul on Sundays Coventry, JA and a booking in ATL at the end of the summer not to mention a long list of bookings in Ireland over the last 10 years...
With hard work and determination the sky is the limit for this Urban Diva who represents for the ladies in a male dominated industry.
